2023 Pastor's Conference
Edition

A Time of Fellowship

Hey there, Reader!

I was very blessed this year to be able to attend the 2023 AALC Pastor's Conference. I got to spend just about a week hanging out with brother seminarians and AALC pastors. It was such a wonderful time!

The hotel was very accommodating and had one of those 'make your own waffle' waffle-irons that I love.

We spent most of the day listening to presentations by Rev. Dr. Alfonso Espinosa which were very engaging and insightful. And each evening we had a full Divine Service with The Sacrament.

It was truly a wonderful time! Here are some pictures of the whole thing, if you want:

The Paul-Side Gambit

One of the things that happened at the Pastor's Conference was position paper on women's ordination presented by the Pirate Christian himself, Pr. Chris Rosebrough!

Pr. Rosebrough was gracious enough to provide the paper to me for publication on Lutheran Answers. Feel free to check it out if you haven't yet!

From elsewhere in the world of Lutheran Theology: Here's a short video from Dr. Jordan Cooper on the creation account, its order, and some of the deeper meanings.

If you want to watch a longer video from Dr. Cooper, he has an introduction to Lutheranism series that he's starting to produce:

Full Discloser: I have not watched this video. It is an hour long and I am very ADHD.

Lutheran Answers Your Questions, Answered Thoughts on Catechesis. This summer quarter at ALTS we're studying catechesis with Pr. Jon Holst. Catechesis is a fancy (Greek: κατήχησις) word for teaching people the Christian faith. In the early days of the Christian church, when Christianity was still illegal in the Roman Empire, new converts to Christianity not only needed to be taught the Christian faith, but thoroughly vetted for their intention - as there were many Jewish and Roman spies who...

Lutheran Answers Thursday, April 03 2025 Just 0 Days Until New Episodes Happy Advent 2, Reader! I hope you had a wonderful day at church (if you went today). Today at Christus Victor we had a Chrismon service where all the children decorated the tree with various icons and symbols, and we heard scripture readings and explanations of them. I'll get to the reflection in a bit, but first I wanted to let you know about our Patreon! Click To Check It Out! One of the things I've been hearing from...

23 November 23 Psalm 136 “ Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good. His love endures forever.Give thanks to the God of gods. His love endures forever.Give thanks to the Lord of lords: His love endures forever. — Psalm 136:1-3 This is such a wonderful Psalm, especially today. I'm sure I could spend time (and much digital ink) on the common refrain, "His Love Endures Forever." Instead, though, I would like to meditate on some of the pieces of this Psalm and how they apply to us directly. Verses...
